Where Did It Go?

Scott assisting Ray with fireworks in 1994. Scott's firework doesn't appear to have gone anywhere but Dad is looking. And the glasses are too cool for words.

Celebrating the 4th

It did rain on our parade but we didn't not let it dampen our enthusiasm.
And then on to cake decorating.

Parade Ready

Ready to mount their vehicles for the parade and in the wagons and ready to roll.
Below, the annual attempt to make a flag out of the fruit. Getting closer.

Celebrating the 4th

Everyone is decorated and ready for the parade.
We also enjoyed some smoke balls, except Vala who thought they were stinky.

Porch Parade

Here are a couple of the entries in the Lenexa Community Days Porch Parade in which homes can enter their patriotically decorated homes in celebration of the 4th of July hliday. I thought the garage decor was quite clever using their kids handprints.

Old Fashioned 4th

In the olden days we lit and threw firecrackers one at a time. You can see the coffee can that we put the firecrackers in after we unwound them. I see Susan has a punk. I don't know if Cindy fell down or is taking cover behind the hedge.

Images of July 4th 2020

I couldn't pick so here are my favorites. A first view of Vala Ray Ferguson but I'll have another when she is fully awake.

These folks embraced the holiday.

Community Celebration

The Village Fest on the 4th is a wonderful celebration of community and Independence Day. We had a bit of rain at the end but the morning was delightful - Americana, a pie contest (where we got to eat the pie while the judges conferred), interaction with law enforcement (including sitting on a bit police motorcycle), and a petting zoo.

All Decked Out

Adam and Lowell were all dressed up for the 4th. Lowell had to change into a second outfit because we got caught in the rain at Village Fest.

Cooking the Feast

Dad grilling in 1968. Many summer meals cooked by him. I love that the little brown hut is still standing in the background. And there is no wall around the patio for safety during the 4th of July Extravaganza.

Molten Boredom

I always thought snakes were the most boring part of 4th of July but Dad loved them. Stacy and Hayden are patiently watching.

A Little Sparkler

Happy 4th of July from our littlest sparkler. And a bit of Americana.

In Step

July 1997 had quite a cast for the 4th of July extravaganza, even Mom got into the act in her hat. Seem to be extra children I don't know and they are not participating in the show. Not sure what's happening with Scott's pants, but that's nothing new.

An American Tribute

Always fun to see how people decorate for the holiday.
