Thanksgiving in New York

Back in 2013 at Rockefeller Center on Thanksgiving Day. We had a brisk 30 degrees that day with a windchill estimated to be about 10 degrees (and we felt every bite of that wind) but it was still an amazing day! They threatened to ground the balloons but thankfully did not.

Merry Grinchmas

My favorite entry in the Johnson County Christmas Bureau Festival of Trees this year is this "Merry Grinchmas" tree. In the wreaths, I thought the "Santa Belly" wreath (below) was creative while also quite simple. The public bids on the trees and wreaths as a fundraiser for the bureau. You can have the Merry Grinchmas tree in your house!

Reflections of Hope

These poppies in the reflecting pool at the National WWI Museum and Memorial, were created by Ada Koch. It is named Reflections of Hope: Armistice 1918. Poppies, beautifully evoked by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae in his poem “In Flanders Fields” signify both a remembrance of those who have died and also a reawakening of hope and living. A nice addition to the night poppy display.
