Things Come Apart

These are the pieces that make up a SLR camera like the one I used to take the photo. The display at the Kansas City Public Library Central Library is part of a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit about the inner workings of everyday possessions. Fascinating exhibit. Many modern items like cell phones only have about 50 parts while an accordion has 1,400.

The First Egg Dyeing

Probably not but it was my first attempt. I doubt I did much more than stick my fingers in the dye or dump it, which is more likely. Steve seems to have a black cloud over his head - perhaps the photographers finger?

A Good Sign

On this Kansas City Fountain Day, when the fountains are all turned on, we have a harbinger of good things to come for the Sea Horse Fountain at Meyer Circle. After being shutdown all last year because of needed repairs, the fence is up and repairs are expected to be completed late summer. A special fundraising effort made it possible. Yeah! 

Extra! Extra!

Rotary Club members were out in force hawking newspapers yesterday morning for Kansas City Day. Once again, I did not get tickets in my paper. Sigh. They said they were glad that for once it was not raining and dark while they were selling.

Royals Bunnies

The Plaza bunnies are ready for the Royals home opener today.

Magic Cookies

I tried making the cookies I made during the 2015 World Series run to nudge the Royals into the winning mode. Seems to be working. Go Royals!

Food Truck Friday

The crowd at the first Food Truck Friday of the season at the Kansas City Star was insane, but it was festive. I was glad we were not trying to eat. The lines were extremely long but no one seemed to mind.

My CRV is now back to its natural state, some $6,000 later. Hopefully I am free from inattentive drivers now.

Flanders Field

The World War I Museum is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the U.S.'s entry into the war tomorrow. These poppies at the museum are ceramic and part of the 888,000 created for an art display in 2014 in London commemorating the start of the war. The poppy field in the background is in the entry and visible from above as you walk into the museum.

Tiny House on the Move

This tiny house is being moved after it was on display Sunday at work. The Veteran's Community Project is building a community of these houses to provide to homeless vets.

I love my viburnum bush because the flowers are pretty but mostly because it smells wonderful.
