Thin Ice

Despite this warning, I see many people skating here, sometimes playing hockey. The ice looks fairly thick and the pool is only about 18 inches so it's not much of a fall if you did go through the ice.

Full Color Stoppage

Although my path was blocked, it was such a colorful view I couldn't object.

When All Around Is Colorless ...

... the purple cabbage almost glows. Seems to be the only color in gardens now.

This Is What Cold Looks Like

The Missouri River at Parkville is frozen although you can see the water moving underneath the ice when you get close.

Strange Posts

I've been trying to figure out what these sculpture-like posts are. The church around the corner put them up. Then they put up a banner so I guess these are sign posts. Look better than many of the sign supports I've seen.

Our Gal Sal

When you work for a newspaper, there's no end of the cool things that are produced. This was in honor of my engagement in 1977, courtesy of folks at the Topeka Daily Capital. You gotta love the hair.

A Bit of Old Mexico

The historic Market Square in San Antonio gives you a flavor of Mexico from the food tents to the wares. Although it was founded in 1790, it moved to its current location in 1890.

The Tiny Alamo

The fort looks so small sitting in the heart of San Antonio when you consider the huge sensation the news of its fall to Mexican forces in 1836 caused. When we were there, it was a sea of purple waiting to get in.

Believe It or Not

There is a truck tire large enough to sit in. This was at Ripley's Believe It or Not museum. Quite a collection of odd things but we were out of the rain.

Christmas Time in San Antonio

The lights hanging from the trees along the River Walk were stunning (although difficult to photograph). We saw the city Christmas tree (below) while on the riverboat ride.

Game Time

Too bad we didn't get a better result but it was fun.
