Extreme Security, Sydney Style

Extreme security measures were taken during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference in Sydney while we were visiting in September 2007. Stacy had warned us. Folks were upset with President George W. Bush and his activities regarding the war in Iraq and he arrived while we were there. They gave everyone in Sydney a work holiday so they wouldn't be in the core of the city and it was effective. It was brought to mind by what has been happening in our capital.
It did have the benefit of us getting to see some amazing fireworks off the Sydney Harbour Bridge (below).

Sydney Fireworks

Watching the Australia fireworks for New Year's reminded me that we had the pleasure of seeing them shot from the Harbor Bridge in 2007 while visiting Stacy. It was part of the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) conference that coincided with our visit.

Do You See Sydney?
