Keeping the Story Alive

Holocaust survivor Sonia Warshawski spoke with 8th graders at Indian Hills Middle School as part of their study of the Holocaust. They viewed her film "Big Sonia" and read "The Diary of Anne Frank" in preparation. The 94-year-old's message was not to forget but also not to hate because that is what brought the Holocaust about.

Lest We Forget

"Lest We Forget" is a photography exhibit on the deck of the Liberty Memorial and features photo of living survivors of the Holocaust with their stories. Quite moving.
Luigi Toscano took portraits of almost 400 Holocaust survivors in the United States, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Belarus, Austria and the Netherlands for the exhibit. It's at the World War I Museum until tomorrow but winds have caused it to be taken down a couple of times.

Big Sonia

Fascinating film about the life of Sonia Warshawski, a Holocaust survivor, who ran a tailoring shop with her husband at Metcalf South for years. Fascinating story of survival, both during and after World War II. The film was produced by her granddaughter. Makes your problems seem small.
