Celebrating Kansas

Eudora kindergarteners presented a program of songs and poems about Kansas. Lowell (in polka dots) and her class represented box turtles so that's what's on her headband. The seven classes did a tremendous job and then we all sang Home on the Range at the end.

Farewell Tomahawk

Tomahawk School at 79th and Lamar is being demolished to make way for a new building. Built in 1955, it is going the way of most of the schools of that era. The new school is scheduled to open in August 2025.

Inaugural Chat

It was enjoyable to watch Morgan give a Children's Conversation yesterday. She talked about traditions and the impression her grandfather's Children's Conversations had on her. Specifically she talked about the stained glass window so some of the kids are looking up at it. Ray would be proud.

75 Years Strong

Colonial Church celebrated its 75th anniversary last night with a large gathering. Former ministers George Tormohlen and Buck Firth attended as did several of my relatives. It was a fun night and great dinner (catered by Q39).

Testing It Out

Stacy and Morgan tried out the sample of our new pews coming this spring. We will now have upholstered seat and back. Below you can see that we will also have the shaped end to make ingress and egress easier.

Lost Lake

I've seen South Lake ice covered or partially ice covered but never completely hidden as it is now. The geese must have had advance warning because they were nowhere to be seen. Usually they uncomfortably (to me) sit on the ice.

Planning Ahead

I'm getting back into the swing of prepping meals for the freezer so I can easily pull something healthy out and pop it in the crockpot or oven.

Paging Portrait

I didn't remember three of us ever paging at the same time but clearly we did in 1967. Governor Docking looks very small.

It's Been a Great Ride

This is my skillet, which I have had since I first got an apartment some 50 years ago. We are bidding it farewell because no matter whether I spray it, oil it or just clean it well, everything sticks. And I think some of the coating may be getting into our food. I think I have goten my money's worth out of it.

It's All Frozen

Family Story Time

The Children's Conversation consisted only of Morgan great-grandchildren on Sunday. Adam, George and Libby enjoyed Pastor Michael's story.
