Thomas Swope Memorial

Thomas Swope's memorial high on the cliff in Swope Park. He is buried at the top of the steps. Although he died in 1909, the memorial wasn't ready until 1918. In 1922, the fountain below was added. If you look carefully, in the center at the tree line you can see the roof of Starlight Theatre.

This is a part of The Last Supper scuplture created by artist Dominic Zappia in 1962 and now housed at Country Club Christian Church. It is about 4 foot tall and carved from basswood. Really impressive.

Fake Building

The theater at Union Station for the preview of Disney's A Christmas Carol was in an inflatable building. Looks like the real thing but isn't. Unfortunately we didn't see the preview as the wait was three hours.

This little boy was racing around on his bike until he took the corner to sharp and ended up in the mud puddle. He just sat there until Howard rescued him and pulled the bike out.

View from on High

For those who wonder what you can see from the big stone tower, not much. Too many safety screens and rails, which is a good thing. But it's scary getting up there.

Johnson County Courthouse

Where I spent much of Monday for jury selection. I wasn't selected but it was interesting.

School Days

In honor of the start of the school year for many, a tribute to my alma mater.
