Post Office Oak

All that remains of the Post Office Oak in Council Grove, KS, is the trunk. Legend says the tree, 270 years old when it died in 1990, served as an unofficial post office along the wagon trail. Travelers could leave messages in a cache in the base of the oak tree. I guess the bonnet is to protect it from the weather.

Waiting for the Ferry

My guest photographer took this photo of the lumber delivery. The truck couldn't unload on our slanted driveway so what do you do? Put the lumber, in sections, in the truck and drive it up. Work smarter, not harder.

Hidden inside of this copy of "It Takes Two" is the complete "Communist Manifesto." Interesting material to find in the resource book for the Soulmates Class.
