The sealing they're doing on our streets looks like some form of strange writing.

Golden Domination

Impressive now with the forsythia in bloom but I suspect it just looks like an overgrown yard the rest of the year. As you can see, the house is barely visible.

Pansy Palatte

Spring is here and the barren benches are now covered in glorious pansies.

Swedish Donut

Schokokusse

A child from Sweden who is in the preschool class is returning to his home country so they brought "Swedish donuts" around to the staff. He explained that it was chocolate and if you bite it you will see white and it will be like a marshmallow. It wasn't exactly - not so sticky - but similar. I had never heard of one and when you search for it, you get Schokokuss, which means chocolate kiss.

Time Is Running Out

The JC Nichols (or horse) fountain on the Plaza has been closed for renovation since last fall. With Kansas City Fountain Day coming up on April 14, they better hurry. I suppose after 55 years, it might need a facelift.

It's Finally Done!

Our hall bathroom has needed a makeover for quite some time and has been gutted since the first of the year. It is now complete, except for a toilet paper roll and rugs. I think it looks fabulous.

Duct Tape Entrepreneur

This young man was making and selling wallets made from Duct Tape. He said he and a friend had made $50 selling the wallets for $3-$5 apiece. The enterprise started as a project for marketing class.

Nice Afternoon in the Park

... to serve a meal to the homeless yesterday. They also received shoes and some clothes. We were working with Artists Helping the Homeless in Mill Creek Park.

Film Vault

The Kansas City Library occupies the old First National Bank, built in 1906. They use the old bank vault in the basement to show movies. We saw "Sleeping with the Enemy" with several homeless people. Interesting experience.

It's Spring!

Invasion

When I opened the refrigerator yesterday at work to stow my lunch, it was overflowing with hotdogs. Seems they will be the lunch provided during the Easter egg hunt Sunday. Should be enough.

Time for Prom

Apparently Susan and I were in Topeka as Kerry got ready for prom. Could the world have had worse taste in the '70s? What's with my pants?

Getting Closer

It's better than "leafs clean up" but we still don't quite have it. "Clean up leaves" or "Leaf clean up." Let's not make this hard.

Unnatural

It doesn't show up as well in the photo as it did in person but the two topiaries on the sides are fake and a funky green. If you can't grow a real bush, perhaps statuary would be best.

Ready for Summer

With the weather the last couple of days, it feels like the pool could open any day. The entrance to the Prairie Village Pool stands in colorful welcome.

A Park Begins

Formerly the Meadowbrook Country Club, much of this acreage is being turned over to Johnson County for a park, which will be just down the street from us. It will be interesting to watch the transformation. They've invited folks to learn about the transformation on March 10 and 11.

Ice Beach at South Park

While this is actually in the middle of the lake, the way the ducks are hanging out on the ice with the water lapping nearby, they looked like gulls on a beach.

Book of Mormon

Saw it last night with Hayden, Becky, Stacy and Cindy. Great fun.

You have to love all the great expressions in this family gathering in Topeka in 1972. It's also an interesting assortment of people. I love Helen Martha's handsome pants outfit. If this was the final photo, I'd like to see the outtakes.

Not Just Any Snowman

This snowman is right outside the door of the youth center at the church up the street. Someone has an interesting idea of building a snowman. I can't decide if he's hugging the cross or he's tied to it.
