This new house is being marketed as historic because it sits on the site of the original Thomas Nall homestead. Built in 1890 (below), the original had fallen into disrepair and couldn't be restored. The new home (at 4809 W 68th Street) has rustic floorboards and hardware that mimic the style of the Nall house but much has been modernized. Thomas and his brother, John (whose home is at 67th and Nall), bought 240 acres encompassing 67th to 71st and Woodson to Roe in 1859 from the Shawnee Indians. Some artifacts discovered during excavation for the new house were on display. I toured the house when it went on the market. It's yours for a mere $2 million. |
