Planting the Seeds

Artist Christopher Weed of Colorado created this sculpture for Merriam Marketplace last year. He describes them as new seedlings, in which a round seed sends out a young shoot. The orbs are intended to suggest large seeds and have a highly polished surface as a tribute to gazing balls that decorate gardens. (If you look closely you can see the photographer.)
