Earlier we had one owl and now we have two. They randomly fly over the yard and perch above the patio. We hear them more than see them.

In the midst of all the surrounding World Cup fanfare, a giant spud pulled into the Union Station parking lot. On a national tour for the Idaho Potato Commission, it makes stops to inform about the sterling qualities of potatoes. And no, the giant potato isn't real.

Colin enjoyed the What If Puppets presentation of "T-Rex Took My Toothbrush." Colin thought it was hilarious and then got to meet T-Rex and Mr. Greene.

The priming and repair is done and the paint goes on today. It's a bit disturbing not to be able to see out with the plastic.

Soccer Stars Adorn the Street

Ecuador star defender Willian Pacho and Argentina’s Messi are depicted on the side of Señorita Margarita on Main St. in a new mural. The mural drew several Ecuador fans to have their photos taken and an entrepreneur (far right) selling Ecuador jerseys before Saturday's match at Kansas City Stadium.

World Cup Fan Fest

We enjoyed our experience at the FIFA Fan Fest on Liberty Memorial grounds. A lot of folks watching France and Senegal as well as roaming the grounds.

 

First Fireworks of the Season

Just kidding. But these flowers look like fireworks as the shoot into the sky.
 

Visitors Not Welcome

Meadowbrook Inn is where the England soccer team is staying. On Friday before they arrived, these barricades and fencing went up and now we also have Prairie Village police patrolling. They definitely do not want fans hanging around.
 

Garden Wonders

Cindy and I enjoyed the Johnson County Master Gardeners garden tour, with gardens we couldn't hope to emulate except in small amounts. I did like the way this homeowner used pots. Apparently she has 193 pots in her garden! Below is a charming tree house and two lovely visitors.

 

Infinity

A beautiful water feature at the K-State Extension Office in Olathe blends indoors and outdoors. Very calming.
 

Eat the Rainbow

Apparently you can eat the rainbow and just have carrots.

Welcome England

The England soccer team is staying down the street from us in Meadowbrook Park. They are arriving this week but that's all that has been revealed. Interestingly they don't play in Kansas City - it's just their US base.

 

Floating Fountain

The birds now have entertainment in the birdbath. It is solar and floats.
 

It's Easter!

At least my lily thinks so. Each year I plant the Easter lily when it's done blooming and wish it well. This is the first time I have had one bloom in the wild.
 

Happy Birthday to Lowell!

To celebrate her 8th birthday, she started the day with a haircut and manicure. Hard to see but she has glitter, tinsel and feathers in her hair.

Graduation Day

Colin graduated from preschool at Willow Woods. He was a class of two.

 

Something Blue, Something New

After 23 years, Stacy purchased a new car. This one also is a CRV and a lovely blue. Her 2003 CRV found a new home.

Back in the Band

Vala played a tambourine with Mr. Stinky Feet. Colin wouldn't join the band but he had a lot of fun.

 

Novice Geocaching

Our first attempt at geocaching yielded this find. Some of the caches we couldn't locate even with hints but Adam was pleased when he figured this one out.

We attempted to take a picture of the Morgan clan in attendance. We got close. And the Huggins clan cleaned up nicely.

Holly and James were married yesterday at Colonial. We had a lovely party after. More pics to come.
 

Savannah Banana Excitement

The Savannah Bananas are playing sold out games against the Indianapolis Clowns this weekend at Kauffman Stadium. They made a stop at Scheel's to sign autographs and this girl was the lucky first one up. The line was endless so I went in search of the source of the excitement and discovered these players arriving.
 

Cooking, Greek Style

Hayden, Stacy and I took a Greek cooking class at KC Culinary Center. These are the base for our gyros before baking. We also made pita bread and spanakopita and hummus.
