Stations of the Cross

Vala and I visited the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. She made a cross, put a bandaid on Christ's cross and added spices for wrapping Jesus. She found it fascinating on whatever level she received it.

Lone Survivor

My viburnum took a hit in that hard freeze a few weeks ago. Normally it would be covered with fragrant blossoms. But I am grateful for this one. The photo below gives you some perspective.

 

Splendidly Attired

We were in our Easter finest in 1960. Of course, Susan, Cindy and I were in matching dresses. I'm sure they were scratchy. 

 

Taking It All the Way

Colin and I rode the full new KC Streetcar route, out to UMKC and found the heart at the end.

Then we completed the loop at the Kansas City Central Library where they gave him some cool glasses.

 

Ready for the Hunt

Hayden gave a hint for the egg hunt and they were off. A little windy.

 We also dyed eggs. Always an adventure.

Waving the Palms

The annual palm parade included much of my family. Lowell was styling with a palm behind her ear. A glorious celebration.

 

We Repeat, No Kings!

Cindy, Morgan, Jeanne McMonigle and I took up a position at 89th and Metcalf to join the throng from 75th St to 119th along Metcalf to protest yet again. We had some younger faces this time and some interesting signage as always.

The Old Fashioned Way

It's good to know that people can still get paper copies of the 1040 and instructions if they need it. The library comes through again.
 

Palm Cross Tradition

I commandeered some church ladies to help make the palm crosses for Sunday. We used to have them every year but that tradition got lost somewhere along the way. And since we use the leftovers for Ash Wednesday ashes, it seemed important to bring it back. We had fun and created 100 crosses!

Aerating the Greens Supervisor

Colin enjoyed watching the greens being aerated at Minor Park Golf Course. He particularly like the pile of sand and the ride in the golf cart.

 

Mother Nature Taketh Away

My tulips could not withstand the extreme cold last week. No tulips this spring. This desecration has not happened before in my memory.
 

Siblings in Spring

Enjoyable to catch up with my siblings always. Especially good to see Susan since she has been absent for awhile taking care of Lee. 
 

Happy Birthday to Benson

Frances, Tom and Cecilia helped Benson blow out his 2 candles. He enjoyed the singing and then fell asleep for the rest of the party.
 

Soundscapes in the Arborteum

Christina Silvius sat on the grass to perform an improvised soundscape with amplified viola and mixing it with electronics in the arboretum at Linda Hall Library. When I signed up for a free ticket I pictured a peaceful afternoon under the trees. But the blooms froze last weekend and there was no shade and, well, 87 degrees. You can see below the audience was a ways back trying to find shade. She is a tiny speck by the stone walls.
