Cindy and I went up the Liberty Memorial at dusk during a special Tower After Dark event. Beautiful view, beautiful night. Even the fall colors were spectaular. You ride a creaky elevator up close to the top and then climb 45 steps to the viewing level just below the flame.

Gathering for Friendship
This group represented Colonial Church at the 19th annual Dialogue and Friendship Dinner at UMKC. We tried to catch our name on the screen below but the guy taking our photo wasn't fast enough. The purpose is to promote continuing dialogue among ethnic groups. It is presented by the Dialogue Institute of Kansas City.

Pumpkin Carving
Here are the pumpkin creations, each made with the help of an adult. Much more complex than when I used to carve. Happy to be the photographer.

Hanging with the Elephants
Steve seems incredibly close to free range elephants, although one does seem to have a chain. Back in the carefree days when children's safety wasn't given much thought. I'd say 1950 but it was undated. Happy birthday, Steve, tomorrow.

Snapology: Halloween Style
Colin participated in Snapology: Halloween. They sang songs, heard stories and wiggled and then constructed Halloween themed duplo art. He even had a candle in his artistic rendering of a pumpkin. He was somewhat hampered by not enough blocks in the right colors.

Wearing Your Food
We enjoyed the exhibit at the Nerman Museum by Katherine Bernhardt and Jeremy Scott. They used pop culture in painting and in clothing. We liked the pizza dress behind the girls. Below, Lowell noticed the shoes were lettuce.A docent showed us photos of women actually wearing some of the dresses.
Katy Perry wore the dress below to the Met Gala.

I Am Kermit
Our friend Mike was trying on oven mitts that looked to us like part of a Kermit the Frog costume. With Halloween coming it seems appropriate. Dallas 2011

Faith and Firearms
John Pavlovitz, author of The Beautiful Mess blog and a former pastor, was the keynote speaker at the Grandparents for Gun Safety annual forum. He was excellent. He also participated in a panel with local clergy discussing what churches can do to fight gun violence.

The Little Blue Truck
The little blue truck out of the series of books appeared across the street. Looks just like it. It's a 1951 Chevy, one-owner.

Robot City
Adam loved operating the robot. He even programmed it to say Adam. Then on to the zipline and more manual labor. A great day at Science City.
