Trunk or Treat Fun

Happy Halloween! Colonial Church did its first Trunk or Treat yesterday. Erin, Topher, Libby and Morgan represented the Morgan clan. My grandkids were napping. Mr. Stinky Feet provided the entertainment. Seems to have been a successful day for the kiddos.

Baking Time

The crew was busy helping make Halloween cookies. Imaginative minds saw angels as ghosts and leaves as bats so we had lots of cookie cutters to choose from. They wore the cooking smocks I made to stay clean.

Gateway

This new art in the park installation, "known as Gateway," now glows in Meadowbrook Park. It's based on the Kansas sunflower. I think they nailed it. Attractive in the daylight as well.

Flying Over Kansas City

Adam was delighted to watch Kansas City below him (on the screen) as though you were indeed flying over. Science City again delights.

Maleficent, Aurora and a Panda

That's what you see on Halloween. Stacy was Maleficent. Hayden was Sleeping Beauty and Morgan was a panda. 1987

Colin and I were playing with candy corn lights and thought he looked quite festive.

What a Fright!

Entering Science City, you get to enjoy some impressive ghouls. Lowell wasn't alarmed by them, especially when she could enjoy the effects of black light on her.

Dia de los Muertos Celebration

While the actual Day of the Dead is November 2, the Kansas City Museum decided to celebrate on October 22 so as not to interfere with other celebrations. Names of the dead and candles adorn the main staircase. Outside the display was much more elaborate.

Big Party, Few Photos

We enjoyed Hayden and Matt's housewarming party for their newly refurbished home but apparently I didn't take any pictures of the house. Here's a few scenes from the festivities ending with sunset.

No Fear of Heights

Lowell scampered to the top of the Luckey Climber, a 3-story sculpture and climber in one in the yard of Science City. You can see the trains and all around from there. Lowell's in pink.

Adam and Me

He said "Can you see me behind you?" So I took out my phone to see him and we got a decent selfie.

Groupies

The Lafferty girls enjoyed seeing Stacy and Hayden getting ready for dances, as younger cousins do. Hayden was dressed for homecoming. 1998

Just A Little Cold

This little bear didn't let the 41 degree cold affect his stroller ride. It did make his nose pink.

50 Years Clever

These gifts from Howard's 50th high school reunion are so creative. The glass ornament in the foreground has the full names of everyone in the class inside. To see how clever the student depictions are, see Howard below. The organizing team put so much work into these. It's impressive.

The Fire Is Laid

Apparently we're reliving the Salem witch trials. Not sure this is a great idea, although creative.

A New Kids Paradise

Adam and I discovered the – finally – completed renovation of Strang Park, which includes a fabulous inclusive playground. Here he is on the bottom layer and, below, just above the same space. Also a look at the full play structure.

Long Distance Call

Stacy and Hayden are using their phones to call from one level of the bunk beds to the other. You can see Hayden's sophisticated setup below.

Photo Bomb

I was attempting to take a Halloween themed photo of Colin but he was distracted by the specter behind the glass. Bruno doesn't want to miss out on anything.

The Story of a Leaf

Vala shared quite a description of the leaf and how it came to be in my yard.

Family Gathering

We celebrated Steve's birthday a few weeks early and Taylor's fiancee, Katheryn, got to meet the Morgan horde. Grandchildren enjoyed the birthday cake. We missed Susan and Lee due to Debbie's illness.

Boy and Trucks

Adam loved watching the trucks working on our street. They were doing chipseal, which took me back to my childhood and wiping out on my bike in the new gravel.

Spiderman

Adam said he was in his spider web. Does look that way.

In the Spirit

Colin was getting into the spirit of Halloween with my ghost. Stacy has the same one and he responds similarly to it.

Take Note

In the truth is stranger than fiction realm, the Big 12 football standings this week miraculously have KU and K-State at the top and Oklahoma at the bottom. Anything is possible.

Cross with Scare

I love the Halloween decorations popping up. This one at a crosswalk by Meadowbrook Park is creative.

Don't Look Up

Soaring overhead is this pretty one. She's even more impressive at night but difficult to photograph clearly.
