Waiting for Spring

These geese didn't seem inclined to get in the water. All of them just stood or sat on the ice.

Left Behind

Geese have taken advantage of the absence of golfers during the cold and snow to move in on Minor Park and leave evidence behind. The ferocious fake coyote (below) may have kept them out of the pond but it doesn't appear to have kept them off the greens. How delightful for golfers.

Not sure what this event was but I'm sure it's something Dad thought the grandkids would enjoy.

Decipher the DNA

The exterior of the new Children's Mercy Research Institute spells out DNA sequences of genetic anomalies found in Children’s Mercy patients with specific, rare diseases. At night, the panels glow white from LED lights, with four panels beaming red representing DNA mutations discovered in Children’s Mercy patients. CMRI also is providing a curriculum for middle and high school students to decipher the DNA lights.

Hayden and I discovered we had dressed alike. We got a good laugh on a windy day.

A Sign of the Times

I passed a couple of locations conducting food banks. Long lines of cars waiting. I tried to be respectful and not get folks in line in my photos. Sad that hunger is such a huge problem.

Brightening Up the Winter

I love watching the birds at the feeder in the snow but one of my favorites is still Papa Cardinal.

Can It Be Too Hot?

With the cold this week, it's hard to remember that it can. Stacy and I thought it was a bit hot in 2015 in Death Valley National Park. Contributing to the heat that day was a malfunction of the car but luckily there was a service station in the park and they got us back up and running quickly.

Frozen

It's a frozen world we're currently inhabiting. I'm looking forward to Wednesday when we get back to 20°. Who thought I would ever say that?

Great Day for a Swim

Only indoors with a lovely 2° day. I was called in to help at the Ferguson girls first swim lesson since Matt is still out of town. Lowell and I did a good job together. Hayden worked with Vala, who found it all fun once she got in the water. She's still serious about it here.

Monumental First Step

Pleased to receive my first dose of the vaccine at KU Med. I feel like the first lock is off my pandemic prison. Everyone receiving the vaccines was giddy. I hope soon everyone knows that feeling.

Thanks for a Good Season

Painful loss but amazing season. The Chiefs didn't have a great Super Bowl but it was a good season and a nice diversion in this crazy time. Next year.

Lighting the Night

City Place received special permission from Overland Park to light this Chiefs tribute across the top of the building. Most of the time it's just beautiful colors.
