Ghosts of Shawnee

We can't have Halloween without revisiting the ghost incident. As you can see below, Steve, Susan and I were amused but Cindy was not. I don't recall the reason for Cindy's tantrum but I'm sure it was unjustified. She was, after all, 2.

Halloween Highlight

One of the perks of working where there is a preschool is the Halloween parade. This class became stuck in place but they were pretty darn cute.

Haunted Castle

This home, built in 1872 by Anton Philip Sauer and 5 generations of Sauers lived in it before it fell into disrepair. It is currently owned by a descendant who lives in New York City and appears to be doing nothing with it. We saw it on a haunted tour one night and a man with a rifle greeted us at the fence because he'd had trouble with vandals. Spooky looking place. Tricky to find, too, as it sits on a bluff in Kansas City, KS.

Big City Hunt

Stacy, Hayden and I participated in a scavenger hunt yesterday that took us from the City Market to 18th & Vine and back. Hayden had the clues on her phone. Quite an adventure. Here we are looking for a specific book on the front of the Kansas City Public Library parking garage.

Haunted Kansas

This is one of the storytellers along the trail during Haunted Kansas last night at Ernie Miller Nature Park. Characters from the past shared stories around campfires along the way.

Bring on the Vikings!

The Shawnee Mission West football team was waiting to take the field against Shawnee Mission East. Not a good night for them. They lost, 54-0.

Foggy Rehearsal

I wanted to use this photo because I thought it was so interesting with the fog, sunrise and plane. So jumping back a week. This is the parade ground at Lackland as they were rehearsing the graduation ceremony. As you can see we had to be there quite early.

Is It a Hat?

We were fairly certain it wasn't but we didn't know what it was. That's the fun of setting up for the rummage sale - discovering treasures!

Ghost Bride

This seemed particularly scary blowing in the wind. I'll shall have to see if it's lit at night. That would be creepy.

If you put a teal pumpkin out, it means you have non-food treats available for kids with food allergies. They even sell a kit for painting your pumpkin.

Pogo arrived shortly before Scott. You can see that Mom is pregnant with Scott. Just the first in a prestigious line of beagles.

A Centurion

This hydrant at 61st and Ward Parkway is going to be replaced as part of the Kansas City, MO 100-year replacement plan. This guy was installed in 1911 but doesn't have the capacity needed now. He's been there all this time and I never paid much attention. He does look different from modern hydrants.

Everyone a Chiefs Fan

While at the BX at Lackland Air Force Base, we came across a setup for an appearance by the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders. I thought I read it wrong at first. You'd think the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders would be a more likely group.

San Antonio Chalk Artists

We came across a chalk festival above the Riverwalk by Artspace San Antonio. Very colorful.

Matthew and Hayden were reunited after 7 weeks when Matt graduated from basic training yesterday at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Not Blending In

This colorful caterpillar crossed the street in front of me. He was not doing a good job of camouflaging himself. I tried to identify him but the closest I came in pictures was the Old World Swallowtail butterfly but they aren't supposed to be around here.

The Morgan Clan

We cleaned up nicely for Hayden and Matt's wedding. Only missing Debbie, Taylor and Calvin. It's fun to be getting the photos now.

Saying Farewell

... to the Royals' 2016 season. It didn't go as we hoped but we had some high moments. And it's always fun at the ballpark. Would have been nice to win yesterday.
