Better Than a Fish Bowl

Syd and Tas like to watch the fish swim on the iPad. It's an app called Cat Fishing. When they step on one, the fish disappears and the bubbles appear. Even pets have gone hi tech.

Things That Just Never Get Old

An ooze tube, which Hayden received as a birthday gift several years ago and was kind enough to leave with us. It's amazing how often someone picks it up, turns it over, and watches it ooze.

Hymn Roll

Preparing to make a wreath out of an old hymnal. The finished one reminds me of the ones made out of computer cards back in the day.

I can't see it, can you?

A package that I sent to my niece seems to have gone astray although it was marked as delivered. We decided the delivery guy might have used this technique to "hide" it. This was a package delivered to Stacy. Why does it even occur to someone to think the mat serves any purpose in disguising the package?

My solar gazing ball at dusk.

Hedge Rows

I want to do something like this, on a much smaller scale. I like the use of tiny hedges.

Something the Drought Is Good For

You can see where you need to reset your sprinkler system. This company, however, chose not to make any adjustments.

Uncle!!

My plants and I have had enough of hot and dry. Could we please have some nourishing rain?

In Case You Were Wondering

This is my new office. You can't see it, but I have a desk and a credenza, solving the problem of no work space.

Dips on Parade

The administrative assistants decided to have a dip bar in my former office space (see below). They had many more dips before they were done and Hawaiian music playing.

The Haves and The Have Nots

One has a sprinkler system and one does not. One gets a low water bill, one gets a lawn worth looking at. What did you choose?

Ice Cubes

Stacy and Frances with Surprise Glacier.  Windy and cold but awesome.  They've also seen sea lions, sea otters, a harbor seal and whales.

Birthday Snacks

This food truck provided the food for a surprise birthday party last night. The guest of honor wondered what vehicle her husband had purchased now when she drove up but was otherwise surprised.

Happily Ever After

This sign has been up for a couple of weeks. I thought someone probably put it up while a happy couple was on their honeymoon and it would come down but it appears rather permanent. To each his own.

How High Can You Go?

Was this a good idea? As it turns out, it did stand but there was concern that water for the Race for the Cure shouldn't be stacked this high. It was pleasantly cool but we still handed out a lot of water to the 23,000 participants.
Some of the creative apparel.

Hand Painted Ichabod

We found this handpainted rock with the Washburn University mascot, the Ichabod, at my Mom's house. My parents both were graduates of Washburn. They are called Ichabods because Ichabod Washburn was a church deacon whose financial endowment led to the naming of the Kansas college after him. You can learn more here

I suppose this is an art project. It looks cool in the snow too.

We liked the professional sign encouraging you to find the Big Sky Bistro on Facebook. Not like most bistros you might find.

Heat Resistant

The pall bearers from Fort Riley stood for more than 30 minutes in 109 degree heat at my father-in-law's graveside prior to the three-volley salute. Amazing.

A Fond Farewell

My father-in law with me at his retirement. He is being laid to rest today.

Cool Pots

Hayden painted these for Stacy for her birthday. The other side has numbers so she can use them to show her address on the front porch steps if she likes.

Celebrating a Life

Howard's Dad, Gordon Huggins, died unexpectedly last night. We celebrate a good man and an inspiring dad. He will be greatly missed.
