Celebration at the Station

Colors and reflections during the concert. It was a beautiful evening.

The large crowd waits. Sunny but not terribly hot and a far cry from what we feared looking forward from Saturday.

All Sudsed Up

For some reason, someone likes to put soap in this fountain. It blows around and leaves what looks like clouds laying around if the wind blows.

Princess Diana

Hayden and I visited the exhibit. You can't take photos inside but this was at the entrance.

Bright Spot in the Garden

The bright green leaves and purple flowers of the spiderwort brighten the garden.

Shelter from the Storm

We spent a quality hour and a half in the ground floor hallway with the preschool yesterday during the tornado warning. The preschoolers were in the social hall most of the time.

I thought my rhododendron had succumbed to the winter but when I returned from our trip it was in full bloom.

Vacation

I should have noted that I was going on a camping vacation without the wherewithal, or inclination, to post during it. I will resume tomorrow, retroactively.

Day 8 - Through the Pass

We encountered snow for the third time. This is our passage through Wolf Creek Pass (el. 10,857 ft.).

Day 8 - Mesa Verde

Cliff Palace, one of the largest accessible remains of the dwellings of the early (1200s) Puebloans.

Access is a bit tricky via steep ladders.

Day 7 - Canyonlands National Park

We thought this stop was going to be a complete bust. The canyon hid from us most of the time because of the low lying clouds.

But it peaked through at Mesa Arch.

Day 6b - Arches National Park

Fantastic arches and rock formations throughout the park.

Day 6a - Capitol Reef

We drove this former wagon train route through Capitol Reef National Park. It got dicey when some European tourists who had all (9 of them) rented RVs. Capitol Reef protects the Waterpocket Fold, comprised of colorful canyons, ridges and mesas in Utah.

Day 2 - Tucson City Hall

It was 97 degrees while we walked the streets of Tucson. As the trip progressed, we wished for these temperatures.
