Time For a Facelift

The Round Hill pool needed considerable work at the ripe age of 65 so they are replacing all of the plumbing and most of the deck. It's still anticipated to be open by Memorial Day.

 

Mosquito Dunk Bucket

This woman was explaining how to create a mosquito dunk bucket to keep the pests from breeding. If you live in Roeland Park, she would give the mosquito dunk to us but because we didn't we have to go buy it at the hardware store. (She was at the Indian mission in Fairway.) Nonetheless, it sounds like a way to keep the mosquito population down without spraying. I shall give it a try.
 

Welcome Home!

The Game That Wasn't

From the time we arrived at Kauffman stadium until we left, this was all we saw. It was a lovely night as long as you didn't care about Royals v. Rockies baseball. Finally postponed at 9:00 p.m.

Team egg dyeing was busy creating masterpieces. See below. Then Colin listened intently to instructions for the egg hunt and off they went. It was indoor due to weather. Happy Easter!

It's All About the Dust

Colin was pushing the dump truck around the ball diamond to see how much dust he could kick up. Quite a lot as it turns out.

We had fun visiting the Plaza bunnies and assorted other animals. Colin took an unexpected dip into one of the fountains but he rallied, sans shirt.

Celebrating Palm Sunday

Libby, Vala, Colin and Stacy were enjoying the palm parade. The whole group stopped in front at the end.

 

Gymnasts in Training

Vala and Lowell took advantage of free time at the end of their lessons. We also stopped for a Jayhawk interaction on the way out. We were at Rock Chalk Park.

I planted new bulbs last fall and they are providing a beautiful show outside the front door.

The guy at Family Tree wanted to take a picture of us with the big frog you can see in the background but Colin became upset when we got too close. I don't blame him, it was huge.

They Have Returned!

My beloved lilacs are blooming after taking a year off. Something happened last year and none of the lilacs bloomed so I was delighted to see them this year. They used to bloom for my birthday but I guess climate is changing and they've bumped up to April.
 

Hands Off!

Cindy and I took to the streets in support of the Hands Off! national protest yesterday. We joined the group at Mill Creek Park. Reminded me of 50 years ago but thankfully many of the demonstrators weren't alive then so we're not the only age fighting back. One of the Easter bunnies joined in.

 

Tax Preparation Assistance

Stacy is again working as a volunteer tax preparer through VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) in Kansas City, KS. I visited her at Avenue of Life, an organization that helps low-income individuals and families be self-sustained and independent.
 

Secrets of Adulthood

Enjoyed hearing Gretchen Rubin talk about her new book, Secrets of Adulthood, at Unity Temple. She was quite engaging talking about the book, which while small is packed with aphorisms for living.
 

Mom and Dad's Easter Finery
