I Couldn't Wait

With the spring-like weather, I wanted some blossoms so I planted a pot of pansies. We'll see how Mother Nature treats them.
 

Back When We Were Grownups

Our good friends Steve and Anita gave us rocking chairs for the girls when they were born. Here Steve is holding two-week old Hayden, and I am trying to keep her in her new chair. Remembering Steve who died last week from complications of dementia.

 

Exploring Nature

Colin and I visited the Ernie Miller Nature Center to embrace the spring-like day. He was fascinated by a turtle shell, the frozen pond and a twig structure. He also demonstrated roasting marshmallows.

Feeding the Houseless

You can see Stacy and Morgan on the Colonial crew feeding folks on the Plaza for Artists Helping the Homeless. We fed 98 people - ran out of plates and forks because we haven't had that many for awhile.

I got a second-hand trainset and Adam was determining if we had all the parts. The cats decided he needed their expertise.

I feel our KU March Madness hopes are as cold as my Jayhawk. Maybe there's a rally coming.

As we dip well below 0°, remembering the trip Stacy and I took 10 years ago. The question remains, do you prefer the heat or the cold?

At 0° it was too cold to play outside but Colin wanted to collect snow to make ice cream. So we did.

Our team didn't fare well in Colonial's annual trivia night but we had fun. It was a good turnout, which was good to see on a cold night.

Art Extravaganza

Lowell and Vala loved all the options for creating on Valentine's Day at Wee Create. Even had chocolate dirt to dig in and plant strawberries.

We decided to make it easier to store holiday decor. With the QR codes and a handy app I can see in a moment what's inside a bin.

We Tried

Adam and I tried to will the Chiefs to victory with our photo op but alas it was not enough.

 

Valentine and Chiefs Cookie Bakers

Grandkids helped bake cookies for Valentine's Day and a Chiefs victory. Vala was the only one with a successful Chiefs cookie but we had fun.

 

New Sea Life Ranger

Adam's Gammy Experience from Christmas was a visit to Sea Life Aquarium. We explored the wonders of the ocean and he became an official Sea Life Ranger.

Lego Master

Adam was demonstrating his Lego's prowess. In foreground are the Little Blue Trucks he and his dad made for Colin's birthday and what he called a Chiefs bus.

 

City of Champions

Hayden and Stacy in New Orleans for the 1993 Final Four. Hopefully it will be the city of Kansas City champions come Sunday. Go Chiefs!
 

Enchanted Home

Colin was intently working to create his enchanted home at the Overland Park Arboretum.

Overland Park sponsored this Repair Cafe to help reduce waste. You could bring almost anything - lamps, small appliances, clothing, computers, jewelry, toys, tables - that needed small repairs and they have volunteers to help you. Hosted by Re.Use.Full, which hosts these cafes periodically throughout the area.

 

Colin Is 3!

We celebrated Colin's 3rd birthday with a Little Blue Truck themed party. His cake and treats reflected the theme, which Vala was examining. She was checking to see what was gluten-free for Lowell.

 

Feed the Birds

The grandkids love to fill the bird feeder. Colin was taking his turn.
