Serious Egg Dyeing
Stacy, Hayden, Cindy and Morgan all look very serious about egg dyeing. Below, Dad shows Hayden one of his extra tricks, this one appears to involve something in a box. Often he used a washcloth and decals. 1987

Top of the Castle
Colin was proud to have made it to the top of the climbing structure at Matt Ross Community Center. It's in a small room so impossible to show the height of it but he did well.

Hosanna!
Colin proudly led the Palm Parade yesterday. Finn was the only one who was hesitant but he may not have encountered such a thing before. Libby showed concern as well but who knows why.

Plaza Bunny Saga
We tried a group shot but that was less than satisfactory. Smaller groups worked better. Despite the cold, we had fun finding them all.

The Saga of an Easter Village
The Easter village Hayden and I painted many years ago attracts lots of attention, even from Izzy, who ran off with the Easter egg tree. I'm happy it continues to entertain.

I Spy with the Little Eye
Someone has sprinkled the neighborhood with painted rocks again and Colin found some. They first appeared during the pandemic stay-at-home time. Colin did think he should be able to keep them but was persuaded differently.

The Non-Parade of Palms
April 5, 2020, Palm Sunday was like none we had ever experienced. Colonial sent out palm coloring sheets so we could have palms since we couldn't have services. Lowell colored hers, with help from her mom. Holly and I held up ours at church, even though we could only stand on the sidewalk. Good ol' pandemic.

Just Kidding
The calendar may say it's the first day of spring today, but Mother Nature didn't want us to get over confident about spring-like weather. This fountain was encased in ice from the frigid temperature.

Wearing of the Green
The Kerns were ready for St. Pat's Day. Joey was wearing green, too, but Adam said he had to wear his green church shirt before he could sport his green t-shirt.

Painting the Town Teal
With the opening of the KC Current season in their new stadium, the lights and waters of Kansas City are reflecting their signature color - teal. They won their home opener.

Firehouse Coffee
Station 3, a new coffee shop in Shawnee, occupies an old fire building with a storied history. The building has housed a gas station, a fire station and a concrete company. The setting near Mill Creek and across the street from a horse farm is pictureque.

Drawing a Crowd
Calvin's 1st birthday brought his family in close to have him blow out his candle. Hope Kelly's not planning to touch the candle.

Birds of Prey Nature Adventure
We went to the Birds of Prey nature talk at Ernie Miller Nature Center and saw owls and a hawk. They got to touch talons and owl wings.

New Season of Hearts
The first heart of the 2024 Parade of Hearts is at Union Station. Titled Pathway to Healing, it was commissioned to allow Kansas City to express its thoughts for healing. By Matt Dehaemers the above side is his original painting showing that everyone wanders, not knowing where the beginning and where the end are. The opposite side (below) is being created by the public with heart stickers that they have written messages on. When it's done, it will be clear-coated and on display somewhere. Adam is adding his thoughts.

Inclusive Art
Lowell's masterpiece in the Oodles and Doodles art class included a girl in a wheelchair. I found that intriguing.

Celebrating Adam
Adam enjoyed a Frozen birthday cake for big number 5. The boys had fun setting up the marble game we gave Adam. Earlier I joined them for an excursion on the streetcar with a stop at the Kansas City Library (in the rain).
