A Bumble Bee and a Mermaid
Once upon a time a bumble bee and a mermaid came to visit. At this posting, these are the costumes Lowell and Vala will wear for Halloween. But tomorrow, who knows?

Old Friends, New Technology
I met these young ladies in 6th grade and our friendship has endured through the years, the miles and the challenges. But taking a selfie was one of our greatest challenges. At least we're all in the frame.

The Color Has Arrived
I wasn't sure we would have much color this fall, but WOW! This stretch of Ward Parkway doesn't disappoint.

Rain Did Not Deter
A very rainy Halloween in 1991 did not deter this mouse and devil from trick or treating. They reported getting handfuls of candy because few others were out. They were rather soggy by the time they finished.

Fruits of the Spirit
George and Adam helped make smoothies from fruits of the spirits - generosity (oranges), patience (cherries), gentleness (strawberries), self-control (peaches), peace (pears) and kindness (applesauce) during Sunday School. The smoothie looked weird but it tasted good. For you theologians, it's based on Paul's message to the Galatians about acting with the fruits of the spirit in mind.

Cindy and I took advantage of the photo booth at Oktoberfest at Colonial. Not sure why Patrick was there but maybe because we're going to be playing in Germany. Who knew he was so tall! 😁

Edible Spiders
I took this lovely butterfly to a Halloween party by Johnson County Parks and Rec. She made spider cookies, which she said made spiders much less scary.

Farmstead Frolicks
Deanna Rose Farmstead did not disappoint. With goats, tractors, a calming garden (Lowell's words) and Halloween, we were busy.
It takes two to get the tractors going.

Protective Eyewear
A look back at Cindy and me styling our special solar eclipse glasses in 2017 just before the total eclipse. We traveled to Smithville for a clear viewing. It was extremely cool. Cloud cover denied us the ability to see the eclipse Saturday.

Curbside Reading Room
The Christian Science Reading Room is using the Free Little Library as a model for bringing its concept to the passer-by. The First Church of Christ Scientist on 87th Street now has a free little reading room on the sidewalk out front for you to peruse and select items.

At Last a Glimpse
Up to now, it hasn't been a colorful fall. Even the color that has appeared seems muted. But this tree brought the color full on. Delightful to see.

Pumpkins and Cookies
Our annual trek to the pumpkin patch was delightful, and not muddy for a change. Afterward we created Halloween cookies. Colin really wanted a giant pumpkin.

Happy 100 Years
Russell Stover is celebrating its 100th anniversary by wrapping the headquarters like a box of chocolates. I was sorry that I missed the record largest box of chocolates this spring.
