We found Arno Park on Ward Parkway added a cool new type of slide. Adam also enjoyed swinging while watching construction – what more could a kid want?

Gammy's Garden
Lowell thought I needed a fairy to go with my new garden flag. Now I wait for spring and flowers so it looks like a garden.

I'm Waiting
Izzy seems to think she is starving. Full disclosure, she just finished eating. But she wants to know that food will be there when she next wants it.

Sedona in Wool
Jessie Cartwright, a fiber arts artist in Prairie Village, created this piece, hanging in Prairie Village City Hall, during COVID, she says as therapy. Fascinating what an artist can do with things other than paint. Interestingly, she is the daughter of artists Joseph and Anna Belle Cartwright, who are known for sculpting the "Homesteaders" statue in Prairie Village Shops. There's your art and history lesson for today.

Vala and Adam spent 2 years together in Gammy day care and they were finally back on the same day. They had a grand time.

Farewell to My Datsun
Me with my Datsun - my first car - just before we sold it. You can see my new ride - a Pinto - in the background at her house in Topeka.

Living Frame
While it looks imaginative, seems like this would be hard to keep alive. Do you have to take each plant out to water it?

Everyone Is Awesome
Lowell, Vala and I enjoyed this display in Hayden's library. Since it's Indian Hills Knights, there is a tiny knight on the right. Photo courtesy of Lowell.

Funville at Crown Center provides a kid friendly place to try out different occupations from musician to surfer to doctor to teacher to astronaut and so on. Lowell and Vala enjoyed the experience.

Mesoamerica Insights
Art historian and microarcheologist Dr. Diana Magaloni's presentation at the Kauffman Center was fascinating, talking about the creation of the Olmec heads of Mexico and the meaning behind the Teotihuacan pyramids. They actually served as a calendar.

Digging In
The renovation at Colonial involves cutting through the floors downstairs to the plumbing so pipes can be replaced. Digging is under way in the lower entry way.

Initiating the Bubbles
Lowell and Vala are trying out my new bubble machine. The machines never last more than one year and sometimes not even a season. Off to a good start.

Birthday Bash for Adam
Adam celebrated with cousins and friends with a Spidey and Friends party for his 4th birthday. Below, the moms were wrapped in spider webs by their children. Colin put on his super hero costume.

Feeding the Community
Adam and I went to the grocery to buy food to put in the wagon at church that collects items for food pantries. He picked apples, oranges, pasta, pancake mix and Cheerios. Kids would like that according to him. He also wanted bananas but their shelf life is too short for our purpose.

Waiting for the President
On June 29, 1983, we waited on 67th St in the rain for President Reagan to drive by on his way to Shawnee Mission Northwest. Seems he was speaking to participants in the National Conference of the National Association of Student Councils. Hayden seems more interested in her snack. As I recall, we couldn't actually see him in the car. Little more low key than these days.
