Burning the Day

End of day displays some intense color. And if you look very carefully in the top left, you can see Venus and Jupiter starting to shine. Skies are spectacular near Eudora.

This is a unique and colorful driveway. I don't know about upkeep but it's a conversation piece.
 

Brick Lab Lego Exhibition

Kansas City Brick Lab, which encourages creativity using Legos, hosted an exhibition at Johnson County Library. They provided a slew of blue lego bricks so those attending could try their hand. After Vala, Lowell and Adam took in the creations by Lab members, they enjoyed the challenge of creating.

Some of us humans may find the weather a bit brisk but my pansies are embracing it.
 

When Dinosaurs Roamed

Adam experienced an archaeological dig, dinosaur bones, creative play using dinosaurs, masks and a fire breathing beast at the Museum at Prairiefire. Fun time.

Wild Cats

Sandesh Kadur, Photographer & Filmmaker, showed amazing photos of wild cats of India during our National Geographic Live this month. This is a cloud leopard.

Thank You and Welcome

Colonial had a reception thanking Frank (right) for stepping in as interim choir director in October. He had been our choir director for 25 years before retiring some years ago. We also welcomed Alex as the new choir director. Frank said at 80 he would much prefer just singing.
 

Pushing Through

The tulips have decided to check out whether it's spring. Seems early.
 

You Are Not Alone

This sculpture named Care has leaves representing mental challenges faced by folks at the "Art Heals" gallery opening at the Interurban Arthouse in downtown Overland Park. You can see below what the leaves represent. Artists Clarissa Knighten and Roderico Alvarez say the tree shows folks that they are not alone in their challenges.

 

Monster Truck Rally or Snow Plows?

Adam couldn't decide whether he was having a monster truck rally or the snow plows were clearing roads during our sand play.
 

Small Fry Input

It appears Hayden and I are having a discussion while I'm trying to cut out a pattern. Loved the buggy that they could stand in. I'm sure Mom was entertaining Stacy while I was cutting.
 

My Valentine's Date

Colin and I got to spend Valentine's Day together.
 

Celebration Preparation

We went to Union Station so I could get a grand photo of the exterior championship display but they already are erecting the parade rally stages. So we went inside for our photo op.

This snow Chiefs fan withstood the melting temperatures to cheer on the Chiefs, Super Bowl champions.

 

A New Challenge

Vala and Lowell have a new structure to practice climbing at their house. It was a bit muddy out so more of a slippery challenge.

Chiefs Snacks

I found this special Chiefs Shatto Milk at the store and added some special edition cookies. We tried the milk, which is red velvet flavor, and it was delicious. Tastes like drinking a cake. Vala really liked it but we thought she looked a bit like a vampire afterward.

 

Siblings Who Lunch

Always delightful to catch up with the full sibling crew.

 

No Need to Share

This person determined that a separate Little Library was needed for kids and for adults. Looks like the kids version is getting more takers, or it's getting fewer donations.
 

Baking Team

Lowell, Adam and Vala hard at work adding sprinkles to the cookies. We had a lot of cookie cutters to choose from but they settled on hearts for valentines and arrowheads for Chiefs.

A Decade of Love Locks

The old Red Bridge (on E. Red Bridge Road) is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a place for love locks. Adam is admiring the anniversary drawing. Over the past decade a ton of locks have been added (see below) and for environmental reasons, they now have a locked box to put the keys in. Folks used to throw them in the Blue River below but that was toxic. The bridge was replaced in 2013 so it is no longer open to traffic (but it is for weddings).

 

Sizing Up the Equipment

Adam received a tour of golf course maintenance equipment at Minor Park, some quite large. The brisk ride down to the maintenance shop didn't faze Adam.
