Local artist and Marine veteran Joe Williams created this sculpture to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people during the Russian invasion. The Roeland Park City Council approved its temporary installation on Roe Boulevard and painted the city sign to match. Hedgehogs are being used on Ukrainian streets to stop Russian convoys.

Just Kids
We dressed for Hawaii but it was a neighborhood party in 1988, not an anniversary trip to the islands alas. But the raspberry tea was delicious.

Old Fashioned Favorite
I love the spring blooms and lilac is my favorite of all time. This particular variety is the best, even if it is called old-fashioned lilac. Who needs new?

New Library Exhibit
Vala received a wave from the window cleaning crew while we were at the library. She was concerned when they put the soap on and she couldn't see out but they followed quickly with the squeegee.

Back on the Line
After some stopping and starting for COVID, Colonial Church is back serving meals to the homeless. We had a nice day yesterday for my first stint for awhile.

Community Bookshelf Heart
This entry in the Parade of Hearts is outside the central branch of the Kansas City Public Library. It was created by Whiskey Design with the idea from Dimensional Innovations, which designed the original Community Bookshelf (below) 20 years ago.

Graduated
Vala and Adam moved to the tire swing, although they still like the baby swings. Those are still more relaxing for me because they can't fall out.

Fountain Day 2022
I attempted to get a photo of two less famous fountains on the first day that Kansas City turned on its fountains for the season but neither was running. So you have the iconic Seahorse Fountain at Meyer Circle. Happy Spring!

Church Art
How appropriate to color a church while sitting on the altar steps. It kept Vala busy while I dismantled the Easter altar.

More Progress
The Ferguson home renovation is moving along. Sheetrock went up this week. You're looking south from the kitchen at the great room and the hall to the bedrooms.

The Orangery Is Back
The Orangery greenhouse at Kauffman Memorial Garden is showing off its oranges. It's been closed for two years because of the pandemic so it was fun to be in it and to see the oranges.

Takes Me Back
This table of tax forms at the library reminded me of the days before tax software programs when you could pick up all your forms at any library.

Fly Over This
This heart at the Kansas City Miniature Museum is by David Freese. Vala liked it a lot (and so did Fozzie).

Rock Chalk Champions!
I couldn't think of a better way to mark the win. They truly did it, trying to kill me along the way with their last minute wins.

Support for Ukraine
Tony Short, a Prairie Village resident, is hanging flags along Tomahawk Road to show support for Ukraine. Prairie Village’s sister city is Dolyna, Ukraine, and Short said this made his desire to help that much more urgent. He has hung the flags from Nall to 79th and high enough to keep folks from vandalizing them.

KC Hearts the Plaza
Lowell and I posed with a heart by Charlie Prodrebarac named "KC Hearts the Plaza." Lowell is modeling with the other side of the heart below. The nice thing about these hearts is that they are equally cool on both sides.
