Cookie Maker Extraordinaire

Lowell used her unique talents to mold the cookies. I think they are all worms.

Not Quite As Planned

I wanted Lowell to lay with Vala, as Adam did last week, but instead we got my demonstration of how it should go, which Lowell found hilarious.

Celebrating 10 years

We celebrated Aaron's 10 years with Colonial despite the rain. Our car parade was a bit damp but we'd already delayed from his actual anniversary in June so we went forth. What's a little rain?

Stick Man Lounging

Kauffman Memorial Garden added some stick/log creations to add interest for fall. Love this guy and his pet (not precisely sure what it is - cat?). And monarch butterflies still are everywhere!

Vala and Adam are having fun on Thursdays at Gammy day care. So is Gammy.

Always Fun

In celebration of Mom's birthday, a picture of her enjoying life as she always did. She was a fun grandma to my kids. Who knows what was happening here but in the next shot I have fallen over on the floor so I'm sure hilarity was involved.

The 9th annual "plein air" painting competition along the walkways of Brush Creek had beautiful weather. All the paintings will be on display at the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center through October.

The fish in Family Tree Nursery pond provided seasonal color.

Now He's the Big Cousin

Adam looks so big next to Vala. She's a big 2 1/2 months to his 18 months.

Fall Color Seeping In

Nice preview of fall color.

Bug Duty

Lowell was ready with her "bug swatter" in case a big horsefly came by. We were enjoying the Fergusons' new porch while I was on babysitting duty. Lowell had a fever on Sunday so couldn't go to day care. No sign of that yesterday.

Hanging Out in the Railyard

Adam enjoyed the caboose at the Overland Park Arboretum train garden. (You can see his masked mother lurking in the background.)

Apple Picking Time

We had fun picking apples at Gieringer's Family Orchard in Edgerton.

Happy to now have two swings so the cousins can swing at the same time. Both love to swing.

Happy Birthday, Hayden

Hayden proudly displaying a banana, of course. Happy birthday to Miss Effervescence. Her birthday was Monday but it wasn't a TBT.

Go Chiefs 2020!

Not sure how this NFL season will go in the time of COVID but happy for the opener tomorrow. Bring back the magic.

Family Fun

Always fun to get a family photo but impossible to get the kids and adults looking at the same time.

For the last few summers these folks have offered zinnias to passers by to brighten their day.

A New Jewell

1275 Jewell
1275 Jewell has a fresh look. You can see the stand-alone garage through the driveway arch. I didn't get to see the inside because Hal wasn't home. I'm sure Mom would be delighted by her old home.

Recognizing Devastation of Entertainment Industry

Kauffman Center and other venues were lit up red in acknowledgement of the devastation suffered by the entertainment industry by closures and cancellations caused by COVID-19. It is expected to be one of the last industries to recover.

First Day of Kindergarten

My first day of kindergarten. I have my cigar box and mat. What more could you need? Maybe a better haircut. I find the dimensions of this photo odd so perhaps something/someone was cut out of it.

Walk and Read

Vala and I took a trip through the Johnson County Library Walk and Read in Franklin Park. Two stories were posted around the path. You could read one in one direction and then turn around and read another one. Vala listened to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star but went to sleep before we could read Be a Star, Wonder Woman!

Mount Bubbles

A common sight in past years but this is the first time this summer that the fountain at Roe and Somerset has been the victim of sudsers. Probably not good for the fountain but amuses me.
