We came across this on a lot in Mission Hills. I said perhaps it was an at-home-school engineering project. Lot of effort was put into whatever it is.

Relocation Service

Our neighbor found a beehive too close to the house so this guy was removing them to take to a more hospitable location. I chose not to get close enough to see where they were or how he was removing them. It took him quite awhile.

Fairy Garden Additions

Lowell was delighted to see the new fairy garden but wanted to add some Fisher Price animals. I thought it was a nice addition. And it was delightful to have her visit again at last.

Don't Step On It

I've seen lots of sidewalk art during this quarantine but this is the first one that didn't want you to walk on it. So don't put it on the sidewalk! This artist had the whole driveway but created the art exactly in line with the sidewalk.

Dancing in a Secret Garden

The Kauffman Memorial Garden is closed but an amazing tulip display is in full bloom, which you can peak at through the fence.

Floating Beauty

Every spring the dogwood's enthrall me with their blossoms, floating on the branches. This year did not disappoint.

A Bit of Reassurance

Foghorn Leghorn reassuring us all that this will all work out. (For you youngsters, Foghorn was a Looney Tunes character from way back in the 60s, who didn't look exactly like this but I was reminded of him.) Saw him in the early morning darkness on my walk.

In Disrepair

The barns at historic Longview Farm are in disrepair and undergoing a stabilization review. Too bad. Built in 1913, they are impressive structures. At it's height, the farm had 51 buildings and a racetrack that seated 1,000. The remaining buildings are being encroached upon by apartment developments so I don't know how long they will remain.

Lonesome Road

I was standing in the middle of Mission Road about 7:00 p.m. and barely a car in sight. This is was stay-at-home looks like.

Brightening the Darkness

It's been suggested that we put Christmas lights back up to cheer everyone. We've seen some in our neighborhood.

Egg Hunt

We got to watch Lowell hunt for eggs in her yard. Below she was investigating what was inside each.

Easter in a New Way

Since we couldn't gather in our usual way, here's the photos sent from my group as well as our family photo (?) from our group call.

Egg Dyeing 2020 Style

Since we couldn't be together in person to dye our Easter eggs, we did it through Zoom with everyone dyeing their own. Not great but certainly better than missing out altogether.

Rock Hunt

We have a fun game going in our neighborhood. A couple of families have painted rocks and hidden them in plain sight for us to find on walks. The baseball one below had particularly creative placement.

Family Campfire

We observed the appropriate social distancing when Joey and Stacy invited us to join them for a campfire and s'mores. Adam was in bed.

What Do You Do With the Palms?

Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Shawnee had 1,000 palms and no services. So they asked member and artist Matthew Dehaemers to take the 1,000 plus palms and create something for Palm Sunday. He did an amazing job.

Palm Sunday – 2020 Style

Colonial provided a palm picture to print and color to celebrate Palm Sunday since we didn't have church. Lowell displayed the one she and Hayden created. Holly and I stood the appropriate distance apart for our palm parade.

Salute to Health Care Workers

Someone wanted to show the nurses, doctors, aides, etc., who work at Shawnee Mission Medical Center some appreciation.

Mexico to the Rescue

As people continue to hoard toilet paper, we now have some in stores from Mexico.

Gammy Time

This is how we do Gammy time now. Lowell was eating her muffins as we played with Play Dough together. Adam was on the move the whole time, smiling and playing with his toys.

Easter Decorating
