My lemon tree has buds. I'm hoping it means lemons will follow.

I suggested Adam use the mallet on the top part instead of the keys and I got this look. I think I've been put in my place.

Slippery Slide

The slide from my childhood entertained my children as well. Dad was assigned to monitor the activity. Looks like he is mostly holding the blanket.

Lowell is telling me how big this dinosaur is and that it roars.

Beachcombing

Not really a beach, but we found these shells along Indian Creek. What lives in these? Couldn't find anything about it but I found it curious.

Concert and Vigil Supporting Immigrants

Jim "Mr. Stinky Feet" Cosgrove led a concert in support of immigrant rights last night. It was the 80th anniversary of "This Land Is Your Land" so the children and adults were given instruments to join in. The concert was followed by a candlelight walk.

Protecting Ocean Environments

Andy Mann, ocean and adventure photographer, was the speaker last night in the new season of National Geographic Live. He did not disappoint. A proponent of protecting our oceans, he has amazing photos taken from under the surface.He is particularly interested in sharks.

Retired to the Rafters

Marcus Morris had his KU jersey No. 22 retired in the south rafters of Allen Fieldhouse last night during halftime of the KU-Iowa State game. He played at KU in 2009-11 and is now with the Los Angeles Clippers. His twin brother Markieff (front) stood with him on the court.

What's Growing?

The librarians at Corinth Library have started seeds to be transplanted to the library's patio garden by the children's section in the spring. They are asking young patrons to guess what is sprouting.

Keeping the Story Alive

Holocaust survivor Sonia Warshawski spoke with 8th graders at Indian Hills Middle School as part of their study of the Holocaust. They viewed her film "Big Sonia" and read "The Diary of Anne Frank" in preparation. The 94-year-old's message was not to forget but also not to hate because that is what brought the Holocaust about.

Water Games

The geese were either having a great time together or involved in combat. But after the flapping they settled back beside each other.

Parade of Champions

You can see Clark Hunt and Andy Reid in the front of the bus during the Chiefs celebration parade. As with the Royals parade, we saw glimpses but mostly absorbed the atmosphere.

Sharing a Snack

The little bird wanted to share Lowell's snack at Cafe Equinox. She was quite entertained.

World Champions!

You can see me on the left. I arrived before the hordes so easy to get a photo. It was also fun to see the Champions sign hanging on Union Station. They were already setting up for the parade rally.

We Are Super!

Amazing! Once again this year's Chiefs made us despair before they pulled it off. The cousins were ready, showing their support.

Written in Snow

These folks showed their support by creating a snow wall and painting it. Hope it makes it until the Super Bowl tonight in our predicted 60 degree weather.
