Stacy and I took Adam to Union Station so he could bask in the Chiefs glory.

Let's Blow Out the Candles

Susan was trying to get grandson Topher to help her blow out the candles. He was not helpful. (I can't believe I have siblings in their 70s!)

Celebrating Kansas and the Chiefs

Stacy, Hayden and I made sugar cookies of Kansas (top) for Kansas Day on the 29th and arrowheads for the Chiefs. We more or less put the red hots where Topeka would be.

Winter Artistry

Beautiful, but treacherous if walking because of dropping snow. I called it a Camelot snow – it's picturesque but left the streets clear.

Am I Crowding You?

Adam was full of mischief today and had a good time leaning in on Lowell. He can sit up just fine. He chose not to do so.

Sugar High

Stacy and Hayden climbing among the brown sugar at our popcorn factory. For once, Stacy is hassling Hayden.

Lowell was focused on the task.

Super Bowl Bound!

The Chiefs kingdom is quite pleased with the 35-24 win over the Titans to become AFC Champions. On to the Super Bowl!

Chiefs Light Show

Deanna Rose Farmstead changed their Christmas display to celebrate the Chiefs. The video (below) isn't too clear but it was a nice effort.

Can You Believe It?

Lowell couldn't believe Adam was trying to eat the crayon. It's stressful being the oldest. 😀

Reading Along

Adam, Lowell and I went to a new story time at Cedar Roe Library. They got to read along in a copy of the book "Where Is Baby's Belly Button?" We were the only ones there for most of it. Too cold I guess.

Y2K - 20 Years Later

Johnson County Library branches want to know what you did to prepare for Y2K at the end of 1999. I love the "Just kept drinking milk" note. It all seems so silly in hindsight. Below is a bit of memorabilia.

One Step Closer

The Chiefs gave us a scare but we're now one step closer to the Super Bowl. Bring on the Titans.

Winter Coat

Now this is January. I enjoyed 65 degrees on Thursday but this is what we expect. My garden bird is wearing its snow coat.

Caught in mid-stride, the dancers at Kauffman Memorial Garden wait for spring.

Starting a Tradition

We didn't quite get this accomplished during the holidays but Lowell and Adam each put a handprint on a Christmas tree skirt and we will continue to do it each year until they roll their eyes when I suggest it. Not the clearest prints but I was trying to be sure no one licked the paint off their hand. We'll do better next year.

Eskimo Man

Scott seems to have built an igloo on the patio in January 1972. I know nothing of this so I look forward to hearing from Scott as to why he did it. Looks like a lot of work.

Note added: Scott reports that he was quite proud of his engineering and that Mom took the photo a few days after he built it, hence the lack of surrounding snow.

Mahomes Bobblehead

I took Lowell to see the bobblehead but it seemed to terrify her so I stayed in the photo with her. It is rather intimidating up close.

Morton's Carolers

A gentleman in our church created all the carolers above, and many more. He was a crafter of wood sleighs (of which I have one) and reindeer and carolers, and apparently many other things. His widow was showing them off.

Hope, Peace, Love and Joy

At Village Presbyterian these candles give everyone an opportunity to say where they see these values or feel they are needed. Post-It notes are nearby to add your story and help fill the candles of Advent.

Happy New Year!

Let's see what wonders 2020 will bring!
Adam is excited to find out.
