Sporting a New Look

Adam got this cool cap with his outfit so he wore it to our house so we could admire it. Pretty cute!

Happy Birthday to Scott!

Not a very clear photo but it was night at the Lincoln Memorial. The Huggins entourage was in Washington DC on vacation. I believe it's 1984.

Lowell and I enjoyed a trip to a park.

Star Gazer

My beautiful lily looks magnificent, despite rabbits and pelting rain.

Lapping at the Banks

Brush Creek is a few inches from leaving its banks. Enough with the rain. We need a day to dry out.

Celebrating the Creators

I find Maker Faire Kansas City a unique showcase of practical and crazy things people create themselves — from electronic gizmos to urban farming to sculptures. It demonstrates what and how people are inventing, making and creating for a faire full of fun and inspiration. You can see a human elephant, geeks playing with a LiteBrite, kids learning to steer robots and so much more. It is delightful!

The guys below are creating props from floor pads. Just a couple of kids with a lot of ingenuity. He's holding an arm like you might find in a Marvel movie.

Art Deco Revival

After a few unfortunate tear downs in the '80s, the art deco buildings were declared historic landmarks and are being restored.

Work Camp

A mere 13 years ago, Stacy, Hayden and I were part of a work trip to Mexico. We poured concrete, dug trenches, moved rocks and learned a lot from the residents with whom we worked.

Beach Walk

Historic Miami Beach walkway and beach. Brief but quite a deluge in mid afternoon.

Sunsets, Keys Style

After hearing about the fabulous sunsets in the Keys, I was thinking of a slowly setting orb. But we witnessed this artistry instead.

Sights and Sounds of Key West

Roosters were constantly crowing and chickens were everywhere. Outdoor dining was marvelous.

End or Beginning?

The above sign celebrates the end of U.S. 1 while the one below celebrates the beginning. You pick. (Difficult to get a pic of the sign below without someone mugging in front of it.)

Saving Turtles, One Turtle at a Time

The Turtle Hospital in Marathon does amazing work with turtles harmed by pollution, boats and general mishaps. The facility is actually a 1950s era motel and night club that had a sea water pool. In the 1980s it transitioned to the facility it is today.

Lurking in the Everglades

Notice the alligator in the center watching us carefully. Saw several gators lurking about.

Happy Birthday, Dad

Holly isn't sure about the celebration but everyone else is embracing it in 1992.

Words of inspiration scattered around downtown Overland Park.

Jan's Fans

Cindy and I were among 58 folks from Colonial Church and Hallmark who walked to support Jan Parkinson in the Parkinson Foundation Moving Day Walk at Liberty Memorial. I meant to take my hat off before the photos.

Celebrating!

Lowell enjoyed her birthday party. She had reservations about her birthday cake, but only at first.

Invisible Roof

I've rarely been in the Kauffman Center during daylight on a puffy cloud day. Looking up it's as though there is no roof.

Celebrating 1 Year

Lowell and her mom came by so I could give the birthday girl a squeeze. She was appropriately dressed.

Happy Birthday, Lowell!

What a year with Miss Lowell.

Adventures Among Orangutans

Our last National Geographic Live of the series was all about orangutans in Borneo. Husband and wife team, Cheryl Knott and Tim Laman, have been working with the animals for 25 years. Fascinating.

Little Library Suite

These folks in Mission took the Free Little Library to a new level. It has rather an English country garden in the landscaping as well.

New Arrival

A gold-hatted gnome has appeared in my garden. Hayden gave it to me for Mother's Day. Love the whimsy it adds.

Hiking Hats

We walked the Kill Creek Streamway trail for a couple of miles. Little muggy but shady most of the way. Hats for everyone.

The Secret Behind the Beauty

Usually when you stroll through the Monet garden at the Overland Park Arboretum, you feel tranquility and beauty but I happened upon the volunteers out in full force manicuring the garden.
