The Fragrance of Hawaii

Plumeria, often used to make leis, grown as bushes or trees and has the fragrance I will always associate with Hawaii.  Love it!

Painted in a Crater

The Crater at the summit in Haleakalā National Park, from whence Maui pored forth. Quite a change in temperature at 10,023 feet from the tropical coast.

Growing History

This 144 year old banyan tree is a centerpiece of historic Lahaina's square. They were having a festival in amongst the new trees growing from it.

Howard upgraded us to an ocean front suite. It's amazing. Happy anniversary to us.

The Active Earth

The Halema'uma'u Crater of the Kilauea active volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Awe-inspiring.

Hawaii, the First Time

On our honeymoon. Somehow, pre-selfie stick, we didn't manage to get a photo of ourselves together. As we are currently in Hawaii, I will attempt to accomplish that.

Watching for Manta Rays

Folks on the boats and in the water and on the boats. The blue lights attract the plankton that they feed on.

Welcome to Hawaii

Beautiful first evening in Kona.

A bit higher artistic skill than you usually see in someone's driveway.

Squirrel War - Part 2

This organic squirrel repellent is working so far to keep the squirrels out of my pots. And the sluggo is recommended to keep the hostas bug free. Here's hoping.

Dead Hosting the Living

On the third Friday, from May to September, Union Cemetery (28th Ter & Warwick) sponsors a food truck Friday to introduce the public to the cemetery. Despite the threat of rain, folks were pouring in.

Headed for Storage

Stacy and I helped Hayden as she collected the Indian Hills students' MacBooks for the summer. We had to check for damages and it was fascinating to hear the stories of why something was damaged. We collected over 800 and most had only normal wear and tear.

Two Out of Nine

Who doesn't love this photo - 9 kids and only Kelly is engaged for the photo. What do you suppose the "good" photo looked like?

At War with Varmits

As you can see, the top of my dragon wing begonia has been bitten off. Between the squirrels and the chipmunks, I despair of having flowers this year. If they aren't digging them up, they're breaking them off.

Park Dedication

Stacy and Joey tried out some of the equipment in the new Arbor Landing Park in Olathe. The park was designed by Stacy's friend, Lisa, so we went to the grand opening. It included a xylophone, which Joey demonstrated could actually make music.

New Take on the Last Supper

Our friend, Bill Rose, was commissioned to create this rendition of the Last Supper with the Kansas City skyline in the background by Church of the Resurrection. It's painted on tiles and placed in a field as one of the stations of the cross on their grounds.

Here's the Story

...of a man named Brady, etc. This collection of Brady Bunch memorabilia is on display at Corinth Library. The collection belongs to Jeni Cosgrove, a woman from Colonial. She says to note the creative ways that Mike Brady is missing from the puzzle and lunch box.

New Mural in Town

Love Kansas City is being painted around this parking lot at Washington and Southwest Blvd. To the left is Love. As you can see by the figure on the K, it is still in progress. Very clever. Check it out.

Coming Down

The demise of Metcalf South is under way. They are throwing the innards out these openings. Sears remains open.
