The Circus Comes to Town

The tent was lit in this tiny town with the train traveling by, at Union Station.

Flirting with Disaster

Lots of ice on the trees but thankfully not on the roads.

Will This Fit in my House?

Apparently the decorators were taking a break so I wanted to see how large this wreath was. It's going to hang at the Westin Crown Center.

Rainy Lights

It was very damp at the Plaza Lighting Ceremony but the few and the hardy made it. Cindy and Holly have lights that KCPL was distributing.

A Cranberry Tradition

Mom cutting the cranberry sauce in preparation I'm sure for making turkeys. So it began.

Happy Birthday, Howard!

With his sister, Margaret.

Morgan Pilgrims Cameo

Just right of center you can see two of the Morgan family pilgrims. They are actually candles and only replicas of the ones that adorned our table each Thanksgiving growing up but it's fun to see them. Hayden is one of the decorators for the altar so she slipped them in.

Moose Truck

Found one of the parade vehicles in a lot near us. Apparently you can buy it.

Tickling the Ivories

I couldn't get a photo during the show but this is the set for the Diana Krall concert last night. The jazz pianist and singer was very entertaining. The tickets were a birthday present for Howard.

Storm's A Brewing

Fascinating sky as the temperatures dropped.

Centerpieces for Refugees

These baskets were used for centerpieces at the Thanksgiving Dinner at work last night and the contents will be donated to Cultivate Kansas City Roots for Refugees, which helps new refugees start farms to grow and sell vegetables. The director was the speaker.

Rockin' the '90s

Paula and I definitely had the 90s hair going. Cindy's sweater is equally 90s.

Royals for Christmas

These folks wanted to support the Royals so incorporated it into their lighting display. I read it as KC+W(orld) S(eries)=Crowned.

Party Glow

I loved these table lights from Be the Light Bottles at the Johnson County Young Matrons holiday boutique.

What's Your Mood?

You can select an appropriate snack, or someone can give you one if they detect an attitude. (It says Snickers on the other side.)

Ultimate Santa Adventure

This year at Oak Park Mall you don't just sit on Santa's lap. You have the "Ultimate Santa Adventure," which involves a sleigh ride with Shrek and lots of hi tech stuff and then a visit with Santa in his North Pole study. You can't see Santa this year without actually visiting him. It's still free except for the photos.

Before the Wind

With the sun on these trees while I was driving to work, I was awestruck by the color. This doesn't do the trees justice. Thanks to the wind Wednesday, they have since been denuded.

Rocket Launch

This photo dated December 1971 just says Steve and Scott rocket launch. It rather looks like the rocket launched into the ground. Like to know the story behind this. (Nice pants, Scott)

Magic Door

One day this was the blank back wall of my office and then, presto, yesterday morning it had a door in it. The door will lead to a room for the server.

Len's Bag

Lenny Dawson left a signed bag at the Sand Trap Bar and Grill in south Kansas City. Lots of fascinating sports memorabilia, and good food.

Banana Forest

I'm impressed by the size of these banana plants. Mine grew to barely 3 feet by fall. Apparently they can grow in this climate under the right conditions. I brought mine inside as I don't believe it but it would be nice to get it to this height.

We've started the planting for our new landscape plan. The rest comes in the spring.

I'm Being Enveloped

They are renovating the space next to me at work and this giant plastic wall appeared this week. In addition to that, there is immense noise from pounding, drilling, sawing going on just on the other side of my wall. My door is next to the bulletin board (with a ninja plug for the Royals on it).

World Champion Celebration

It was a madhouse and Hayden and Matt ended up on the opposite side of the street but it was fun to be a part of a great celebration. Below is Manager Ned Yost with the World Series trophy.

The leaves made a lovely contrast on the stairs.

Champions at Last!

We won the World Series! I feel like I lived every pitch and at bat right along with them but what a wonderful ride, and what a typical game with which to win. The amazing comeback kids.

Feeling Blue

but not about the Royals. Just the end of Daylight Saving Time and more darkness after work. The Nelson-Atkins is showing off its Royal colors.
