Haunted Lantern Tour

Hayden and I took the Haunted Lantern Tour of UMKC and this was our guide. It actually was more of an historical tour in the dark but he did a good job. We did hear about a few hauntings. And contrary to what the title seems to say, the lantern was not haunted. Happy Halloween!

What's In Your Pumpkin?

Stacy and Hayden trick-or-treated at the Freyermuths in 1982. As usual, Hayden immediately looked to see what the treat was.

Garrison Keillor - Live at the Midland

Worth missing the beginning of the Royals fantastic game last night. Stacy and Hayden gave us tickets this summer. Who would have thought the show would come up against the World Series?!

Spooky

This is how I'm feeling about the Royals game tonight. I hope it's the Giants who get the fright.

Seasonal Treats

I was in charge of lunch yesterday so I made mummy meatballs (use your imagination) and Royals cookies. Thank you to Stacy who added the decoration to the cookies and the eyes to the mummies. The iris of the eyes wouldn't stay put, making the mummies a bit scarier than anticipated.

Dancing in the Autumn Light

One of the fountains at the Kauffman Memorial Garden. Beautiful fall flowers for her to dance among.

Colorful Canopy

I wasn't sure it would be very colorful this fall but suddenly color is busting out everywhere.

World Series Duo

Vala is sporting a handsome satin Royals hat while holding Morgan, whom I'm guessing is just days old in 1985.

World Series Splendor - Then and Now

A beautiful night at Kauffman Stadium. And a fantastic game. I sat next to Danny Jackson of the 1985 Royals who let me admire his World Series ring.
Note Howard is wearing the ring.
Throwback Thursday has been delayed until tomorrow by the excitement of being at a World Series game.

Blue Meyer

Meyer Fountain on Ward Parkway at night. It was cool during the day with the blue water but it is more impressive with the blue lights. Go Royals!

My jack-o-lantern at the front door is enhanced by the blowing leaves.

Royal Monster

This fearsome guy is a Halloween decoration at this house every year. I've never fully understood what it is but I love the addition of the Royals flag.

Champions Again

Stacy (in 1994) is sporting my sweatshirt from the last championship. Let's hear it for the 2014 American League Champion Royals. We're in the World Series!!

I'm Loving This

Who would've thought we'd get to the day when this looked like a fabulous gas price?

Is It Enough?

It seems funny to me when I see sprinklers going in the rain, especially when we've had a lot of rain. We've had 6 inches in the rain gauge over the last few days.

Hot Coco

The idea was good but the spelling was lacking. As I was taking the photo the two girls running the stand came running up to serve me so I bought a cup. It was tasty. And they were very nice so I refrained from mentioning the spelling problem. I also appreciated the ingenuity in taking the lemonade stand to a seasonal alternative.

Kansas City is going crazy for the Royals. Back to Kansas City for Game 3 tomorrow.

Up Close with Baby Jay

On Frances' first outing as Baby Jay for the KU Med Center, Cindy, Stacy and I crashed the party.

The Eighth Commandment

We are all enjoying Asbury's sign on 75th Street. I'm still somewhat shocked by Billy's steal in game 3 of the American League Division Series. Just another example of the Royals' magic. I'm hoping it continues tonight.

World Series Baby

While Morgan is 1 year old here, she is one of those babies we all are reading about now - born during the last World Series in Kansas City. The doctor who delivered Morgan delivered Bret Saberhagen's son, Drew, the next day. Happy Birthday to Morgan on the 18th!

Apples on the Move

At the Louisburg Cider Mill, you can see the apples moving from the large bin to the pool where water causes them to float so they can move onto the conveyor belt taking them to the press to make cider. We enjoyed apple cider donuts and cider as part of the Ciderfest.

Trolley Ride

Cindy (in the door) and I took the trolley tour of Kansas City to see what they would show us and what we might learn. It was enjoyable and we had a good guide. The other folks, who weren't from Kansas City, seemed to really enjoy it and I think that is the best test.

Paint the Town Pink

As part of breast cancer awareness month, the Prairie Village Shops have outlined their buildings in magenta.

Royals April 1973

Must have been a lovely night, judging from the apparel. Scott, Steve and Mehmet (Turkish exchange student) is an interesting combination. Not a big crowd.

It Took 12

The Royals gave us all a heart attack, several of them, but we're on to the Division Championship Series! 9-8 over the A's in 12 innings! (photo from KC Star as I was not at the game but it has to be the photo of the day.)
