Inflating Spongebob

A little wet, a little cold but fabulous to see the balloon inflations.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Cindy is concentrating hard on blowing out the candles.

Pilgrim Gathering

In the front row are the pilgrim candles that graced our table when we were kids. The back row features the new model Susan found. They are very similar but just off. The women's faces are a bit odd.

Happy Birthday, Howard!

Looking dapper in his bow tie. What a cutie!

Deep Freeze

Even the bushes are cold. 14 degrees? Really!

Might Be Too Big

Is this too big for the front yard? I can't imagine trying to keep this guy inflated and stabilized standing in a yard.

Giant Sampler of Chocolate

I saw this and it immediately took me back to Christmas mornings when there would be a giant box of chocolates under the Christmas tree, which sounds great, but they were the worst chocolates ever. I doubt they were Whitman's. I'm sure the price was right but they were not good.

Jiving with the Band

On the occasion of Dad's 60th birthday, he had a band in the living room. Hayden got up close and personal to see. No wonder she ended up playing the clarinet, or maybe she just liked the beat of the drum.

Things You Don't Need

Most people likely don't need to spend $70 for one of these.

Landscaping with Vegetables

These cabbages made an interesting addition to the seasonal landscape. I must try this next year.

Does Your Hair Stand Up?

Or maybe your branches? These branches all go straight up. Seems to have occurred after they trimmed the tree because of the power line. I see another trimming in its future.

Taking a Bite out of ThanksgivingTh

Thanks to the squirrels, my Thanksgiving decor is ruined. I sprayed the pumpkin this year with a clear acrylic but apparently I should have used varnish or hairspray. At least I made it through Halloween. This handiwork was done over the last week.

Pumpkin Cornucopia

The cornucopia part seemed to overwhelm the pumpkin but this one won. It was a contest among the secretaries at work. See other entries below.

Middle School Artists

I thought this art at Hayden's school was very well executed.

Four Grandparents

An unusual photo with all of our grandparents included because EA died when I was so young. I'm guessing the baby is Kerry? That would make it 1952, maybe. One wonders what Dad and Roy are up to since they aren't in the photo. Probably took both of them to take it.

What's Missing?

The tree! After I took the photo last Tuesday, they cut that tree and three others down because "no one could see the beauty of the church." Really? It's kind of hard to miss - big stone tower and all that. But you definitely have an unobstructed view now from Ward Parkway, except for the trees on the city right of way.

Nutmeg

A new color for poinsettias so you feel free to include them in your Thanksgiving decor.

Tas finally posed, but only with Syd.

Faux Macy's Parade

Macy's in Prairie Village had a pretend Thanksgiving Day parade with kids, including facepaint, masks and balloons. After all, the actual parade is less than three weeks away!

New Orleans Jazz

We enjoyed some jazz while eating at Jazz, A Louisiana Kitchen, in KCK last night. Our table was right behind them so our view wasn't great but the music was, as well as our view of the interaction in the band. This guy played a little accordion, a little guitar, a little harmonica and a little keyboard.

The Labyrinth

Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has only one path so there are no tricks to it and no dead ends. It is considered a meditation, relaxation and spiritual tool. Although I didn't feel transformed by the experience, it was interesting.

Let's Twist

How cool were we sitting around listening to music in 6th grade? Cheri and Chris are wearing cool Shawnee Grade School sweatshirts while the rest of us sport stripes.Glad our socks were all exactly the same.

The Road Less Traveled

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

It's Mine!

So says Kala. She is not interested in sharing her new bed with her brother, Koda. Another satisfied customer.

Harsh Winter?

Folklore says the larger the brown strip on a woolly bear caterpillar, the harsher the winter. This guy would indicate a harsh winter. But it's simply folklore, and some say has more to do with the past winter.

So Many Questions

Why was it made? Where can you buy such a thing? Who wears this? When would you wear it? If it were Halloween, no questions would be asked but this was the day AFTER.

Color At Last

I wasn't sure it was coming, but the rain and the cold have finally created a colorful fall.
