Enjoying the Fall Weather

A considerable improvement over Saturday. (I told Tas she needs to pose to get equal blog time but she is not interested.)

The Show Must Go On

Despite a rainy first half of the Overland Park Fall Festival, this puppet show drew a crowd. At least the weather, and the crowds, improved by the end of the afternoon.

Obstruction! Obstruction!

It was a bit hard to walk down this sidewalk. Hopefully the tree folk were coming back to remove this debris.

Happy Birthday to Mom!

With her delightful children circa 1955. I never want to crop these because of all the interesting things in the background.

Beginning to End

As you can see, this pot flourished, although one addition was required. Quite an improvement over the beginning of the season.

From a Discarded Pumpkin

This giant vine is headed down the ally behind Susan's house in Lawrence. It starts in her backyard where she believes a pumpkin was left last fall. It has lots of small pumpkins on it. I wouldn't get this kind of a vine if I planted the seeds.

Royals Win!

I had the fun of seeing the Royals win their last regular season home game with a walk-off Grand Slam by Justin Maxwell. It was worth waiting 10 innings.

Waiting for the Team

The KU band in formation for the arrival of the Jayhawks. A little warm but we won the day!

Look This Way

... or that way, or maybe that way. Always difficult to get the cousins to look at the camera. Frances seems unhappy about the whole affair. November 1992

It Seems Wrong

... to have a pig as a smoker. But I do like the rhinestones on the wheels.

Fun Facts

The most excellent librarian at Indian Hills Middle School posts the weather and a fun fact each day for those entering the library. A Silver Day has to do with which alternate classes are meeting that day.

Scanning Syd

While I'm working at the computer, I often have Sydney sitting on the scanner behind the monitor. It's a problem when I need to scan but she is moveable.

Morgan Jensen Cousins in Tight Quarters

For some reason, we all were jammed on the stairway at Gussie's house in December 1972. Gotta' love Scott's hat. In front is our cousin Debbie Winter from California next to Kerry. The head band dude by me is our cousin Bruce, also from California.

Battle of the Icons

These folks have seen enough of the stick figure families (see below) on so many cars so they used the equally prevalent big sad eyed cat. There is apparently a whole movement of anti-stick figure family folks.

Would You Like Ribs with Your Fries?

The fries, although delicious, overwhelmed the ribs buried underneath.

Chalk Art Infancy

The artists were just getting started at the Chalk Art Festival yesterday at Crown Center. They were going to be very hot before they were done.

Potpourri with a Twist

This was supposed to be about the grapevine balls and the orange ball they put in the fall potpourri but notice Hayden looking up at me.

Taking a Zen Moment

Remembering standing on the beach in Kauai, some years ago. Ahhhh.

Yield Here

An illustrated effort to make cars stop behind the crosswalk and not in the middle of it. Doubt it's any more effective than the painted lines but maybe the general populous needs an illustration.

Sunrise Spectacle

In case you slept in yesterday, here's what you missed. That and some rain. It was actually raining on me as I took this.

My niece, Grace, receiving her award for placing third in a Division I NCAA cross country meet as a freshman at KU. She is third from the right. Pretty darned impressive. You go, Grace.
