Meadow Instead of Marsh

This used to be a marshland along the bike trail but the nearby pond is dry and this has become a lovely meadow. Not sure if they are in the process of rejuvenating the pond. Certainly isn't that dry this year. I don't think the frogs, etc., are happy.

Hot Wheels

More like a stepped up version of my old Huffy. My new bike with flat foot technology, which gives me better power with less stress on my knees. I'm not looking for challenging riding so it's perfect. We took it for a spin last night. Great ride. (I did wear appropriate shoes.)

Empty Promise

So we got the rainbow but no rain yesterday. That's just not right.

Tallgrass

The grass at the top of the sign is actually the tip of a very tall stalk of grass that is growing up from the ground through the sign post and out the top. That's some serious climbing to daylight.

Modesty or Burlesque?

The pioneer woman statue in Prairie Village briefly had a camisole. Not sure whether, since its a red satin camisole (see inset), it was meant to be flashy or rather to cover up the anatomically correct statue and they just picked a poor choice for modesty. It was removed within a few hours.

The Sweetest Comeback

At I-35 and Rainbow exit headed north - the largest non-edible Twinkie. It was made by the local company 3 Axis Inc. for the occasion of the resurrection of Hostess. Not concerned about the Twinkie but happy to see cupcakes coming back.

Finally ... Restoration

After months of things being removed from the building, new parts are arriving from the recasting place in Minnesota. This one should be hoisted to the roof this week. Remember what the parts looked like that were removed, in 2011.

One Large Spud

Stacy is demonstrating the size of the giant Idaho potato that is touring the country. It is not, however, a real spud but created by Schofield Design in Weiser, Idaho, for the Idaho Potato Commission to celebrate its 75th anniversary. They said if it was real, it would take 10,000 years to grow and would take two years and nine months to bake. It is also 1,102 times heavier than the largest potato ever grown, which weighed in at 11 pounds. Bet you didn't know all this about the giant potato! It was visiting Union Station.

This beautiful alpaca wool sweater was delivered from Peru. The colors are gorgeous and it is silky smooth and soft. Below, some of the weavers explained how they dyed the wool.

What Can You Make from This?

They have disassembled the organ at work for repairs. They just piled up the parts and took them away. I hope they know how to put this back into the form of an organ. It should look like this.
