Ancient Writings

Hayden and Morgan left their mark in the basement at my Mom's house. Apparently on Thanksgiving 1991, they were back in the play area, probably playing school. In '91, Hayden was 10 and Morgan was 6.

The Fish Remains

We decided to strip the basement recreation room of my parents' house to prepare it for sale. You see the pile of ceiling tiles, and you can see the infamous sailfish on the wall. My nephew thinks it would make a great centerpiece for a bar.

Jan's Fans

Stacy, Hayden and I walked in the Moving Day Walk for the Parkinson Foundation. A member of our church, Jan Parkinson, is suffering from Parkinson's so several of us walked in his honor.

Tip of the World

South East Cape, the southern most point of Tasmania, Australia. We were talking about Tasmania last night so I am reminiscing about our trip.

Tiny Feet

Some of the treasures from my mother's house. The ones on the left were actually my first shoes, which my grandmother had bronzed. So my mother was left to bronze my second pair - the sandals. The sandals are made into bookends. I think the ones on the left look really old fashioned, but then I guess it has been a few years.

No Reflection

I was certain I would be able to take a great reflection shot but alas, no water. Pool is being reconstructed. Built in 1922 on swampy ground, the pool had been losing 30 million gallons a year. Just bad timing on our part.

Personal Transportation

We took the night Segway tour, which was great fun. We looked like dorks but when we passed groups of youth, they thought we were cool. It's all in the perception.

Mistakes Aren't a Problem

Certainly not when you have an eraser this big. This one is in the National Sculpture Garden. We wondered how many people these days remember typewriter erasers such as these.

Washington, D.C.

We were on vacation in Washington the past several days. I am now posting retroactively on those days.

The O-Line

An orangutang at the National Zoo moving from one enclosure to the next on the O-Line. It allows them to operate more as they would in the wild, and delights the crowds.

Washington Nationals Game

We enjoyed a night at the Washington Nationals. Our seats were directly behind homeplate on the upper deck. They played the Mets and won in extra innings. We were sardines in the metro on the way to the game.

A warning to us. Seems it would be clearer to just say watch for balls.

Kennedy Center

We attended a free concert on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center.
