Last Call
Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium, home of the Omaha Royals and the College World Series is closing next week after 62 years to be replaced by new stadiums. We watched the Omaha Royals lose to the Iowa Cubs. A lot like watching the Kansas City Royals. We did see Bannister pitch.

Cement Creek
I have had a fascination for the concrete paving of Brush Creek through the Plaza since I was a kid and was told Boss Tom Pendergast hid bodies of his enemies in the cement while it was constructed. Probably not true but riveting to a kid. It is definitely disintegrating now - lots of rebar showing. I thought I should preserve it for posterity.

Neon Hydrant
I was intrigued by this hydrant, both for the color they chose and the sloppy way they painted it. Must be budget cuts.

Centurion Legion
In Roman times, a senior officer commanded 100 men, more or less. This was part of a lesson about what a centurion was and how many people that represented.

Of An Age
This car was part of the display at the 90th anniversary celebration at Country Club Christian Church on Sunday. Too bad I don't know what it is.

Scaring Babies
Baby Jay may have damaged this baby for life. I'd be scared. It was a gathering of the KU faithful in Corinth (before the rain) to kick off the football season.

Entrepreneur
Apparently someone was persistent enough about selling to require a permanent stand. Does this pass city code?

Super Size
This pot it taller than me. Unfortunately I couldn't find a passing stranger to stand in front of it for portion purposes.

Bat Catcher
As sometimes happens, a bat was loose in our office. Heather took on the role of bat catcher. I, on the other hand, chose to stay safely behind the camera. She has it in the net in her gloves. We released it into the wild.

Grantioch Neighborhood
I have never heard of this but I found this sign. Apparently the Grantioch neighborhood boundaries are Antioch to Grant, from 79th Street to 83rd Street - part of Overland Park but wanting its own identity.

Moon Glow
I am very excited that my moonflower finally bloomed. It's taken me years to get one to bloom after having so many. Very fragrant.

Coloring in the Lines
Or not. Not sure what this is about. Is this a new kind of crosswalk? But there is no pedestrian crossing here.

Or is it burn off. All I know is it is hot, hot and dry and the pretty green is going, going. August in Kansas.

A Good Read
This bronze statue is one of several by Alice Arms, who died July 30 at the age of 101. She was a world traveler and a gifted sculptor.

Politics
With the election today, the signs are prolific. We have a polling place at work so you run the gauntlet to get past all the campaigners, too.
